PAMANTASAN NG LUNGSOD NG MAYNILA The first community university in the Philippines. Congress enacted Republic Act No. 4196 in 1967 creating the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM). When PLM started classes on July 17,1967, its first students numbered 156 freshmen, all coming from the top 10 percent of the City of Manila’s 29 public high schools.

The PLM campus is the original site of the Jesuit compound which included the Church of Santa Ana (1587), Colegio Maximo de San Ignacio (1596), Colegio de San Jose (1601), and the first church and convent of San Ignacio (1632).
